I wonder where she gets it...

We went shopping today, and Jayla was able to pick out her Halloween costume. She was so excited. ( I'm not so much... she wanted a Tinkerbell Costume that I think will be too short...) Anyway, we then explained to her (over and over and over) that this was a special dress; one that she could only wear on Halloween. She seemed to except this, so we moved on.
Upon arrival at home, she said,

"Mom, I want to wear my Halloween dress."

"Honey, I've already told you, not til Halloween."

"But Mom, I want to put my Halloween dress on."

"Sweetie, I said not until Halloween."

"Mom," she says to me in a very serious voice, "You don't listen very well."

How many of me are there?

This is a really fun website that was sent to me:

http://www.howmanyofme.com/search/

According to this site: (for the name "Laurie")
  • There are 173,935 people in the U.S. with the first name Laurie.
  • Statistically the 354th most popular first name.
  • More than 99.9 percent of people with the first name Laurie are female.
(and for the last name "Laws"):
  • There are 18,309 people in the U.S. with the last name Laws.
  • Statistically the 1943rd most popular last name.
But there are only 10 people in the U.S. named Laurie Laws.

How about your name?
If you try this, I am interested to know what is says about you!
Let me know!

PS There are 20 Jamie Laws, 29 Andrew Laws (but only one AJ Laws) and there is only one JAYLA LAWS!!!
PPS There are also 4 Laurie Bowlers

Fort Bridger Mountain Man Rendezvous

For the few of you who don't know, Jamie is BIG TIME into the Mountain Man scene. We have started (beginning last year) going to the Fort Bridger Mountain Man Rendezvous in Fort Bridger, Wyoming. Jamie gets really excited. He counts down the days and hours the whole week before, and then is so excited that he can't even sleep the night before! Just like a little boy at Christmas!

We went with Jamie's mom and dad. It was really fun. We were able to wander around all day and people watch, (which I simply love love love to do!) I really enjoy watching the people in "primitive" clothes who stay in character(NO, I was NOT one of them). I saw many grizzlied old mountain men, lots of leather-bound "Indians", and even little children dressed from head to toe! I even saw Abraham Lincoln! There was also a period-clad Mormon Missionary spreading the Word of God! He was selling reprints of the original Doctrine and Covenants. We bought one of those. It was fun to see!

This previous picture is of the Candy Cannon. Every hour they shoot it off for the kids. It is full of, you guessed it! CANDY! The kids love the free for all. Jayla only got one piece, but she sure was proud of that one piece!
Jayla also insisted on having equipment like her daddy. So, being the softie, I mean, Good Daddy, that he is, he bought her her own wooden gun, wooden tomahawk, and her own child sized powder horn. She is so proud of her stuff!

We spend the night in Evanston and then headed back Sunday morning for the Sunday Service. That was such a neat experience. There were HUNDREDS of people. Some dressed in Sunday Best, others dressed in their period clothing. Some sitting in chairs, and others laying their blankets down to sit on. (we were some of the ones with the blankets)
Then people from all over bore (spelling??) their testimonies. I felt the spirit SO strong. Jamie had tears in his eyes, too. We will for sure go to the Sunday Service again.

After the rendezvous, we went and stayed the night at our good friends, the Davis', in Logan. THANKS GUYS!
We were also able to have lunch with some of our favorite people, The Halls! YOU GUYS ROCK! (They went to the Rendezvous with us last year.)

It was super fun, I wish that I had taken more pictures! And I can't wait to go next year!

Jayla's First Day of Preschool

Ok, so technically this is not her first day. She actually started last February, but this is her first day for the new school year. Her first day was August 25 (and trust me, it couldn't come soon enough for either of us!)
She is getting so grown up! In only two short years she'll be in kindergarten! HOLY COW! She needs to stop getting older!

Camping out!

We had been telling Jayla for a while that we would be camping out for the 24 of July. We explained that we needed to get her a sleeping bag so that she wouldn't get cold. So, the weekend before, we went to the store and got her a sleeping bag.
She was SOOOOO excited
to have her own sleeping bag that she insisted that she needed to camp out that very night. So, Jamie, being the awesome dad that he is, set up a small camp out on our deck in the back. It didn't last very long, (we knew it wouldn't) but it sure was super cute!

Julie! This is for YOU!!!

So, I've been getting a bunch of complaints that it has been too long since my last blog. So, this one is for you guys!

Our NEWEST family member! (yes, we just keep collecting them...)

This little guy's name is Flint. He's a chocolate Lab. He's a really good dog! He stays in the yard and doesn't need to be chained up. Happy day!
He's a lot of fun.

PS Doesn't Jamie's grass look awesome?
